SFNOMA(S)
SFNOMA is proud to support the next generation of architects, designers, and leaders through our engagement with local NOMAS student chapters.
National organization of minority architecture students
As a professional chapter, SFNOMA values opportunities to build meaningful connections between students and design professionals while encouraging mentorship, collaboration, and professional growth. Through firm tours, professional development workshops, free access to SFNOMA events, BGL competition support, and guidance for students transitioning from academia into the profession or graduate school, SFNOMA helps strengthen pathways for the next generation of architects and designers.
NOMAS student chapters play an essential role in advancing NOMA’s mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in architectural education and the broader design industry. SFNOMA currently supports and engages with NOMAS students at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of San Francisco, Academy of Art University, and California College of the Arts.
The annual Bay Area-wide NOMAS Showcase brings together NOMAS students from the University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley, California College of the Arts, and Academy of Art University to present their studio work in a shared exhibition hosted by SFNOMA, AIASF, and the Center for Architecture + Design in San Francisco.
The exhibition features studio projects displayed in a final-crit style setting with guest practitioners, educators, and community members; reflecting the power of bringing community together to exchange ideas, celebrate emerging talent, and strengthen the pipeline into the design profession.
The Spring 2026 NOMAS Showcase hosted over 150 guests in attendance.
