SFNOMA is the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), a 501(c)(6) professional business league, community improvement, and advocacy nonprofit. We are the 2nd Largest Professional Chapter in the West Region and the 5th Largest Professional Chapter in the Nation.

SFNOMA members are a diverse group of individuals engaged in the architecture and design profession, and part of a network of nation-wide professionals that uniquely implement the NOMA mission. What binds us together and fuels our volunteer activism is a duty to social responsibility and to actively address relevant social and environment issues, such as affordable housing, inclusiveness, and universal economic access. We also speak out against apathy, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance; against abuse of the natural environment; and for the un-empowered, the marginalized, and the disenfranchised.

Our goals are to increase the level of participation in the social, political and economic benefits afforded the citizens of this nation and to tear down the barriers that make full participation unattainable. And to give members a base from which to be involved in politics, to visit schools and reach out to children, to conduct community and civic forums and to responsibly practice in our professional capacities.
